Ceramics: Wheel Throwing (Ages 13–17: AFTERNOON; Two weeks)

Fuel your curiosity and imagination in the clay studio at Virginia MOCA! In this two-week-long ceramics camp, we’ll explore the art of throwing clay on a potter's wheel. First, we’ll dive into the foundations of wheelwork, mastering wedging, centering clay, and shaping cylinders, cups, and bowls. Then, we’ll finish off our work with vibrant glazing techniques that add color, watertightness, and food safety to our forms! Together, we’ll experience the wonder of the ceramic process as we combine hand skills and science to transform mud into exquisite and long-lasting works of art.
