Ceramics II & III: Form, Glaze, and Firing Techniques

Instructor: Carol Sphar
This class is designed for intermediate and advanced students interested in expanding their understanding and abilities in the creative medium of clay. Students will explore ceramic form, surface, function and scale, and how these characteristics relate to different firing processes. High fire glazes and application techniques will be reviewed to help students discover new ways to approach traditional kiln firing. Students will be encouraged to continue to explore their interests in alternative firing processes including crystalline glazes. Students are required to purchase a basic ceramics tool kit (available at Michael’s or Jerry’s Artarama). All clay must be purchased through MOCA.
