Drawn to Experiment

Discover how the practice of drawing can engage and encourage inventiveness. Execute a variety of experiments, techniques, and exercises meant to engage the unconscious and intuitive side of the mind. Draw upon the artistic traditions of surrealism and abstract expression by working spontaneously and energetically while shifting between figuration and abstraction. The class will be useful for any student wishing to reenergize their confidence in the medium of drawing, reconnect with the core of their visual impulses, and exercise their capacity for creative visual thinking. Students will primarily work on paper and use graphite and charcoal.
