Painting in Oil from Photographs I

Translate photographic images into canvas masterpieces in this course inspired by classic oil painting technique. The first 4 weeks will examine color theory and the color wheel to gain a broad understanding of color mixing.  Students will learn to choose workable photographs, map out a strong composition, and utilize the grid method to enhance painting accuracy.  Styles of paint application, types of brushes, and types of painting surfaces will all be explored so students learn to translate photographic images into oil painting. During the second 4 weeks of the course students will apply their newfound knowledge to an image of their choice
